Winter is coming...

Well, the NEWSTALK 1010 ski team is ready for another season of fun on the slopes ..I'll be giving you updates on everything from local conditions to skiing at magnificent resorts in North America.  We'll talk about snowmobiling and Winter Carnivals for the entire family. The NEWSTALK 1010 ski team will be out and about thanks to our returning sponsor Pizzaville..now 6th season and other sponsors such as Markville Ford with the 2017 NEWSTALK Markville Ford Explorer, Rossignol, Decscente, Hestra, Columbia and Smith Optics.

So, lets get started with winter and yes there's skiing this weekend with Mt St Louis open, just 15 mins north of Barrie off the 400 with 2 feet of base...10 slopes and 4 lifts along with 2 terrain parks. We're still enjoying some natural and man made snow, which takes much longer to melt then real snow..It's the only spot in province to enjoy downhill skiing and watch for the NEWSTALK Markville Ford Explorer on the slopes to win a $50 gift card from Pizzaville.


OK, as for events plenty going on Friday night with tree lighting ceremonies, in Pickering at City Hall along with Fireworks, Burlington at the Civic Center, Bowmanville and Bradford right downtown.

Elsewhere, for the weekend there's something unique in Bracebridge..X Mus Festival...featuring live entertainment, Santa, celebrity bartenders, Holiday Market, Holiday Kitchen, chocolate and wine pairings and much more throughout various parts of town all weekend. 

Collingwood is always a popular spot with Jingle and Joy. Ontario's largest pedestrian village with horse drawn wagon rides, Santa on the Bandstand and fireworks over Mill Pond at 8. 

There's Holiday Street Market in Milton with over 200 artisans, photos with Santa, a Sugar Shack, and plenty of fun for the entire family on Main Street from noon-7. 

Christmas at the Lighthouse takes place in Port Credit with figure skating performances, carol singing and lighting of the Christmas tree at 6 on Saturday. 

How about a Main Street Christmas in Schomberg with craft shows, jugglers, live music and magicians from 3-9 on Main Street.   

Holiday Market runs in Whitby with over 100 local merchants celebrating the season..it's Durham Regions largest holiday market from 10-3 on Saturday. 

Saint Marie Among the Hurons is always popular at Christmas with First Light..18th annual with over 5,000 candles along a trail with a cookhouse, nativity scenes, farm displays and more, every Thursday to Saturday 5:30-9pm. 

Train rides are always fun..head to Uxbridge for York Durham Heritage Santa Railway....Santa will be on the train for photos and Christmas celebration.. from the Uxbridge Station. 

The 25th annual Trek to Bethlehem takes place in Bala with Saturday tours from 6-8:30pm. 

There's a ski swap this weekend, at Centennial Ski and Snowboard park on Saturday from 9-4.

Christmas music fills the air in Wasaga Beach on Sunday night with Christmas at the Beach..13th annual  with all monies going to local food banks.

Also on Sunday in Parry Sound, Sleigh Bells and Brass Concert thanks to local Rotary Clubs and donations to charity. 

And you don't have to leave the city to enjoy Christmas cheer...Light up the Holidays at Fairbank Village..free snacks, drinks and family fun..swing bands, Santa and event stations for the little ones, all on Eglington Ave West, just west of Dufferin St.

Holiday Fair continues at Nathan Philips Square with over 30 vendors in the Food Market, licensed Polar Point, Midway, Street Performers and of course Santa all week til Christmas.

Toronto Christmas Market continues at Distillery District with theme nights on Main Stage...Traditional Tuesdays, World on Wednesdays, Classical Thursdays, Jazz and Swing on Fridays, pop on Saturday and choirs on Sunday.

One of a Kind Christmas Show and Sales continues at Enercare Center with over 800 artisans and 5 districts..food, fashion, flavors, greens and rising stars...til Christmas..and Santa Claus parades Friday night in Unionville at 7...Saturday in Etobicoke at 10, Bolton at 11, Fergus at 1:30, Beeton at 3, Grimsby at 5:15 and Coldwater at 5:30.
