As the deep freeze moves out, just how cold was it in January?

We'll be freezing for another day but don't worry, it gets better for the weekend.

Wind chills are expected to be around -30 Friday morning with a daytime high of only -10.

By Saturday, it will climb to -1 and on Sunday, 3 degrees.

If you feel like January was on the cold and snowy side, you're not entirely wrong.

Early estimates from Environment Canada show 63.4 centimetres of snow for the month; the highest total in 15 years.

The temperature was on the cold side of normal, but not as extreme as you might think.

It was the coldest January since 2014 with an average high of -2.3.

The normal is around -1.5.
