Boyfriend faces murder charge in case of Whitby mother found dead last year
It was last May that Durham Regional Police asked for your help to find a missing woman from Whitby.
Nobody had seen or heard from 46-year old Melanie Vachon in almost 3 weeks.
Her family was worried about her safety and they were right to be.
Vachon's body was found about a week later.
Word from authorities on Thursday is that they believe her death is a homicide, and that officers have finally made an arrest.
Investigators believe Vachon's killer is her boyfriend.
44-year old Jeffrey Weldon was arrested on Wednesday and charged with second-degree murder and interference with a dead body.
Const. George Tudos says details surrounding how Vachon died will be kept secret until the trial.
Her body was found along a waterfront path in Whitby.
Weldon appeared before a judge on Thursday morning.
