Campaign featuring Kaepernick a win for Nike

The company may have seen its stock fall at first, but online sales of Nike gear are climbing upwards following the reveal of a new campaign featuring quarterback-turned-activist Colin Kaepernick.

BNN Bloomberg reported that data from Edison Trends shows between September 2 and 5, online sales of apparel and shoes surged with product orders rising 27 per cent.

When compared year over year, sales dipped over that same four-day period in 2017, while product orders dropped two per cent.

The official ad featuring Kaepernick debuted on Monday afternoon.

It has drawn both praise and criticism, with some of those who opposed it burning their Nike shoes in protest.
