Cheryl McVarish's boyfriend's father charged in her death
A little more than a month after her body was found on the driveway of her Mississauga home, an arrest has been made in the death Cheryl McVarish.
Peel Regional Police have charged Gil Dasilva of Mississauga with second-degree murder. Police say Dasilva is the father of McVarish's boyfriend.
Const. Rachel Gibbs tells NEWSTALK 1010 detectives are aware that Dasilva has apparently been convicted of a crime committed outside the country, but she says police are still confirming the details.
McVarish had been reported missing March 13, a week before her lifeless body was found.
It is not clear exactly how McVarish died but blunt force trauma is considered to be a contributing factor.
