Deadly shooting near York University

A shooting near York University on Tuesday night leaves a man dead.

It's believed the victim is in his 40's.

Toronto Police say it happened at around 9:30pm, in an industrial area near Keele St., south of Steeles Ave.

Officers arrived at a plaza to find a man with gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Authorities say it isn't clear yet whether the shooting happened inside one of the stores, or nearby.

So far, no information has been released about the victim, or a possible suspect.

Police officials say its too soon to tell what might have led to the shooting but that officers are speaking with a possible witness who might have seen the attack through security camera footage.

Detectives with the Toronto Police homicide squad are investigating.

This shooting happened about 4 hours after a man believed to be in his 30's was gunned down in Mississauga's east end.

There is nothing so far to suggest these two killings might be connected.
