Fog advisory issued for parts of the GTA

It's a bit of a soupy-looking morning in parts of the GTA.

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for a number of areas Saturday, as dense fog rolls off of Lake Ontario.

The weather agency says near-zero visibility is expected or is already occurring, making travel hazardous in some locations.

The following cities, towns and regions are under the advisory:

  • Uxbridge - Beaverton - Northern Durham Region
  • Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region
  • Pickering - Oshawa - Southern Durham Region
  • Vaughan - Richmond Hill - Markham
  • Lindsay - Southern Kawartha Lakes
  • Peterborough City - Lakefield - Southern Peterborough County

Visibility became limited in areas close to the lake just after 7:30 a.m. However, Toronto, Peel and Halton Region were not listed in the advisory.

The fog is expected to dissipate throughout the morning hours.
