John Tory wants to keep your taxes low

Toronto Mayor John Tory is going to focus on affordability as he tries to win re-election.

NEWSTALK 1010 has learned that Tory is pledgeding to keep property tax increases at or below the rate of inflation for the next four years if he wins another term as Mayor in the fall election.

Tory has kept his 2014 promise to hold the line on tax increases.

The 2018 budget passed at Toronto city hall includes a 2.1% property tax hike that added an extra $81 dollars to the tax bill for the average home owner.

Tory's top challenger in the 2018 municipal election, former city planner Jennifer Keesmaat, has not detailed her tax plan.
