Man arrested, second man wanted in firearms, drug investigation

Police say a 43-year-old Richmond Hill man is under arrest and the search continues for the second suspect after a man was beaten inside a gaming establishment in the Finch and Kennedy area of Scarborough.

The incident happened in April of 2017. On the morning of the 23rd of that month, two men entered the building at Milliken Blvd. and Trojan Gate armed with handguns.

The men both began beating the victim with guns and a hammer, before fleeing the scene.

Last month - nearly a year and a half later - the victim came forward to police, saying he had received threats and was fearing for his and his family's safety.

On Sunday, police executed search warrants, arresting Yong Cheng and charging him with 13 offences, including aggravated assault, possession and firearm charges.

Police continue to seatch for 36-year-old Hai Lin of Scarborough, who is wanted on six charges. Investigators say anyone who spots him should consider him armed and dangerous and should call 911 immediately.

Police also report seizing six firearms with ammunition, over 120 pounds of marijuana, 12 pounds of hashish and over $22,000 in cash during their search.
