Mississauga man arrested after violent attack on golden retriever
A golden retriever might not survive after it was violently attacked off the side of the highway in Bowmanville yesterday evening.
Police say they were called to the Hwy 401 off-ramp at Bennett Rd at about 8:20 p.m. Monday night.
Witnesses reported seeing a man attacking a golden retriever, and that he continued to do so when they tried to intervene.
Officers arrived and arrested a 23-year-old Mississauga man.
The dog had life-threatening injuries and was rushed to an emergency animal clinic. There has been no update on the dog's condition but police say it was not promising.
Jonathan Dunbar has been charged with animal cruelty.
