NEWSTALK1010 wins two RTDNA awards for radio excellence

Two of our very own here at NEWSTALK1010 are being honoured for their work on some of the biggest Canadian stories of 2018.

Reporter Siobhan Morris is the winner of the Dick Smyth Award for Excellence in Sound, for her work on the vigil held six days after the van attack on Yonge Street.

Thousands of people turned out to Mel Lastman Square on the night of April 29, 2018, to honour the 10 people killed and 16 injured in the attack on April 23.

Meantime, James Moore has taken home the Dave Rogers Award for Short Feature in a large market.

Moore's piece - The Ontario Cannabis Store: Open for Business - covered the opening of the province's online stores after cannabis was legalized across the country on October 17, 2018.

NEWSTALK1010 was nominated for a total of 13 awards.

The CBC took home the majority of awards in radio, television and digital categories.
