Plane hits pole with wing at Pearson International Airport

Some delays early Saturday morning at Pearson Airport after an EVA air flight to Taipei hit a pole with its wing while taxiing down the runway.

It happened just after 1:00 a.m. Saturday.

Peel Regional police tell Newstalk 1010 for some reason the right wing hit a pole near the runway knocking it down and causing damage to the wing.

Police say the plane was full of passengers who were helped off the aircraft by the fire department.  No injuries were reported.

The transportation safety board is investigating.

Pearson airport tweeted around 5:30 a.m. Saturday that normal operations had resumed.
