Police issue safety alert following suspected drug overdoses

Toronto police have issued a public safety alert this morning.

They say a number of suspected drug overdoses, including one fatality, may all be connected.

Police were called to a nightclub in the Entertainment District where they found two people in medical distress.

One of those people, a woman, has died.

They were also called to a club  in the Cherry Street and Lakeshore Boulevard area.

They found two people suffering from suspected drug overdoses.

Police say all of them may have taken the drug MDMA which is also known as ecstasy.

Along with death, the illegal substance can cause addiction, kidney damage and memory loss.
