Province to make major healthcare funding announcement
During the election campaign, Premier Doug Ford promised to end hallway medicine.
Reports suggest an announcement Wednesday will help the Premier make good on his promise.
Health Minister Christine Elliott told a meeting of stakeholders Tuesday that hospitals in this province will be getting $90 million in funding ahead flu season.
CTV Toronto reports that the province plans to fund more than 1,100 hospital beds, including 655 new spaces and 450 existing ones.
This would be separate from a promise to create 15,000 new long term care beds.
Wednesday's announcement is planned for 12:30 p.m.
