Shapovalov knocked out of U-S Open

The dream run is over for El Shapo.

18 year old Richmond Hill teenager Denis Shapovalov, who has electrified the tennis world this summer, had plenty of chances, but in the end couldn't break through against Spaniard Pablo Correno Busta at the U-S Open in New York.

Shapovalov was up a break in the first set before losing 7-6 in a tie breaker and also had a chance to win the 3rd set, but Shapovalov lost his 4th round match in straigth sets 7-6 7-6 7-6 commiting 55 unforced errors.

Even in defeat, Shapovalov became the youngest player in the Open era since Michael Chang, in 1989, to reach the 4th round.

Shapovalov was also looking to become the youngest player to reach the quarterfinals at Flushing Meadows since Andre Agassi did it as an 18-year-old in 1988.

Busta moves on to the quarter finals for his first time, where he will face the winner of Argentina's Diego Schwartzman and the 16th seeded Lucas Pouille.
