SIU called in to investigate death of Toronto woman

Toronto Police and the SIU are investigating after a woman fell 19 stories from a downtown apartment to her death Saturday evening.

Police were called to the 28-year-old woman's apartment in the Shuter and Dalhousie area for a distress call around 6 p.m.

As officers entered the unit, they saw the woman on her balcony. She then fell to the ground below and was pronounced dead on scene.

Two investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to this incident.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
