Suspect arrested in theft of monkey, lemur, and tortoise from Elmvale Zoo

A 21-year-old man has been arrested, accused of kidnapping a monkey, lemur, and tortoise from the Elmvale Zoo near Barrie.

Agnes, JC, and Stanley were stolen sometime overnight Monday into Tuesday morning.

The OPP say Alex Perlmutter of Ottawa was arrested in Mount Albert, about 65 km north of Toronto.

Whether the animals have been located, the OPP didn't say.

It's alleged Perlmutter cut through a chain link fence near the flamingo pond and snatched the animals.

All three of the animals are worth $20,000, combined.
