Toronto Police put an end to "rookie buy nights"

Toronto's police chief is cracking down on "rookie buy nights,"  after three of his officers were acquitted of sexual assault on one of these booze-filled evenings.

Leslie Nyznik, Sameer Kara, and Josh Cabero were found not guilty earlier this week, after a female parking enforcement officer accused them of assault after a rookie event in January of 2015.

A police source tells NEWSTALK 1010 that an internal memo has gone out to all unit commanders. It says chief Mark Saunders "has made it clear these events are not consistent with our policing culture."

It goes on to say that disorderly behaviour, excessive alcohol consumption, is to end immediately.

Supervisors are being told that they will be held accountable for their role in endorsing bad behaviour.
