Two large snakes found abandoned in Newmarket

York Regional Police say someone left a pair of Burmese pythons outside a reptile shop in Newmarket.

The six to eight foot-long snakes were found around 9 a.m. Monday in sealed plastic bins.

They were being taken to a reptile sanctuary near Peterborough but one of them died on the way.

Investigators say they haven't found the owner but they're not treating this as criminal.
