UPDATE: Man shot outside hotel diner, suspect photo released

A man suffered serious injuries when he was shot outside the Thompson Diner at the Thompson Hotel on Wellington Street.

It happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police say he was taken to hospital by friends in a taxi.  He was shot in the hip.

They say the friends are not cooperating in the investigation.

“Right now we are just trying to determine who is responsible for this,” Sgt. Barkley Boniface told CP24 at the scene. “We are speaking with witnesses and hopefully speaking with the victim.”

A security camera image of the supsect has been released.

He is described as  6' with a large build, 25-35, with a light complexion, shaved head, and trimmed beard. He was wearing a black jacket, with a white shirt underneath, and white pants.

The shooting is the second one to happen outside the Thompson Diner in a month.

On January 28, a dispute between two men escalated in front of the 24-hour restaurant diner around 3 a.m.

A man was then shot in the leg.

Police released security camera images of a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting investigation.
