UPDATE: Snow arrived in Toronto Thursday night
As predicted by Environment Canada, the snow expected to hit the city of Toronto came in late Thursday night. A little later than called for but moved in quickly.
A special weather statement has been issued calling for 5-10 cms of snow through the overnight and into Friday's morning commute.
According to Environment Canada's Rhea Olsen, areas closer to Toronto and the lake will see the most accumulation.
" Probably the highest amounts will be a little further south towards the lake and less to the north which is a little bit unusual."
But travelling outside of Toronto, through Burlington, Hamilton and the Niagara Penninsula could see far more accumulation.
There is some good news in the forecast for the weekend according to CTV Weather anchor Tom Brown.
"For much of the GTA, it doesn't look like the snow is going to last all that long. We have sun in the forecast through the weekend and into Monday and Tuesday as well."
