Armed robbery suspect calls cab, police catch up to him
A 21-year-old man has been arrested for an alleged armed robbery at a convenience store in St. Thomas early Tuesday.
Police were able to catch the man after he called a cab from a residence, north of the city.
They say the suspect walked into the Mac's Milk on Talbot Street at Pearl Street with a hand gun and demanded cigarettes and cash around 2:30 a.m.
The male clerk complied with the request and told police the suspect fled, running north.
The K-9 unit was called to assist.
Police say a homeowner contacted police saying a male had asked to call a cab from their residence.
Police attended the home, located a suspicious male and arrested him.
