Dresden Looks to Eliminate Blenheim
Dresden is at home to Blenheim Monday night with an opportunity to eliminate the Blades from the Provincial Junior Hockey League playoffs.
The Kings beat the Blades 4-2 in Blenheim on Sunday to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 Stobbs Division quarterfinal.
Dresden head coach Rob Vanderydt hopes his team can eliminate the Blades.
"Anytime you can end a series you want to end it as soon as possible," says Vanderydt. "But having said that, the games we've played are already done. We need to refocus and be ready to play well tonight (Monday)."
Vanderydt says goalie Brett Brochu has been one of the key reasons for the Kings' success this season.
"Broch has been the backbone of our team this season. If we have some lapses or breakdowns he's always there. He gives us a chance to win every game," says Vanderydt.
Brochu appeared in 38 games this season and posted a 27-11 record with a 2.46 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage.
Dresden finished third in the regular season standings, while Blenheim finished sixth, 23 points back of the Kings.
