Maple Leafs Blow Out Jets In Opener

Patrick Marleau scored twice in his Toronto Maple Leafs debut as Frederik Andersen made 35 saves in a 7-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

The Leafs quieted the fans at MTS Place in Winnipeg to open the NHL season.

The lopsided score saw the Jets pull netminder Steve Mason in his debut for Winnipeg after allowing 5 goals on 20 shots. Connor Hellebuyck made 9 saves in relief.

Auston Matthews, James van Riemsdyk, Mitch Marner, William Nylander and Nazem Kadri also scored for the Leafs.
