A strike at Canadian Engineering and Tool in Windsor is entering its ninth day.

The 75 workers hit the picket line on September 2nd to back contract demands.

Unifor Local 195 President Emile Nabbout says the union is ready to head back to the table but has not heard from the company.

He says the members remains strong.

"The members are still solid," says Nabbout.  "When you are on a picket line what other option do you have."

He adds the support from the community has been overwhelming.

"I'm really amazed with the number of people just driving by, stopping and trying to show the people that they do care for what they've been doing on the picket line," says Nabbout.

Nabbout says concessions are no longer acceptable.

He says the membership is looking for slight improvement to wages and do not want cut backs on benefits or the pension.

The employees are skilled trades workers building machinery and equipment fixtures.

No new talks are planned.
