UPDATE: Driver Who Pulled Down Powerlines in Belle River Charged
A 48-year-old Windsor truck driver faces charges after powerlines were knocked down in Belle River.
At 10:15 am the OPP and Lakeshore Fire responded to a report of a downed hydro pole on West Belle River Road.
A delivery truck with a large boom lift had pulled down overhead wires.
The driver and a passenger had to remain in the cab for 2-and-a-half hours while the wires were safely removed.
The driver is now charged with having an over height vehicle and careless driving.
The nearby CP rail line had to be taken out of service during the removal.
ELK Energy and Hydro One say the electricity will be turned back on once repairs are completed.
The OPP now say West Belle River Rd. will remain closed between Parklane Dr. and County Rd. 42 for the remainder of the day.
