VIDEO: LaSalle Native Looking Forward to West Coast Opportunity

LaSalle native Luke Willson is speaking out about his future with the Oakland Raiders.

The team announced March 28 he had been signed by the team.

Willson says the dice are now in his hands to make what he can of the opportunity.

"Not expecting anything other than an opportunity out there.  I liked living on the west coast, I'm excited to be a part of Raider Nation.  It's pretty intense down there from what I hear I met with Coach Gruden and really enjoyed that conversation"

He's taking what positives he can from the year spent as a Lion.

"I do feel like I learned a lot, kind of one of those hard lessons learned in Detroit as a player and as a person.  And I'm looking forward to taking that and going to Oakland and just giving it my all"

Willson is looking to show the Raiders what his strength is, to be a complete Tight End.

He was promised nothing from his conversation with Head Coach John Gruden.  That's fine with him, to have that kind of "brutal honesty" from the coach he hopes to play with.

The 29-year-old Willson spent last season with the Detroit Lions, making 13 catches for 87 yards in 14 games.

It followed five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks where he collected a Superbowl ring.
