WATCH: Niagara parents clash with protestors
Tensions were high this morning on day one of a teacher lockout at Niagara Catholic elementary schools.
Protestors were out picketing this morning, and in some cases getting involved in heated exchanges with parents.
In one video that has already been shared over 1000 times a mother with a child inside her vehicle gets into an argument with a woman on the picket line.
The upset mother says her son attends a YMCA daycare which is located in the same building as a Catholic school.
President of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario - Niagara Local, Jada Nicklefork is the woman with the red jacket seen in the video.
She tells CKTB News the video only shows one side of the story.
Nicklefork says she was outside Loretto Catholic Catholic Elementary School, which is in the same location as Kate S. Durdan Public school and a YMCA daycare.
She says she was there to show her support for locked out Catholic teachers, but also to ensure her public teacher members were able to get into the school without delay.
Nicklefork says before the video started the woman inside the vehicle almost hit four people standing outside the school.
She wants to stress that teachers are locked out, and want to be in their classrooms.
She says people also need to understand that teachers are not receiving pay during the lockout.
