Collingwood wins bragging rights in muncipal step battle
Collingwood town council has stepped up when it comes to, well, steps.
This summer, the municipal councils in the towns of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Clearview Township held a competition to see which council could log the most steps, as a way to promote healthy living.
The challenge started Canada Day and wrapped up at the end of the Labour Day weekend.
The council that logged the most steps receives bragging rights and the opportunity to see their municipal flag hoisted outside the municipal offices of the other two for a two-week period.
Collingwood logged the most steps - 3,724.85 kilometres, which is equivalent to walking from Collingwood to Halifax, Nova Scotia and back.
Clearview finished second with 3,097.05 and Wasaga Beach was third with 2,935.72.
Details on the flag raisings still have to be worked out.
