Storm Damage & Possible Funnel Cloud In Barry's Bay Area

A brief but intense summer storm left some damage in the Barry's Bay area on Thursday.

It was just before 2:45 p.m. when the wild weather moved in.

Eyewitnesses tell us they saw clouds rotating and what appeared to be a funnel cloud, and a picture sent in to us showing the sky over the Metro store shows a dark cloud shelf with what appears to be a section of cloud dropping down.

Fire Chief Corwin Quade says the storm knocked trees down along Old Barry's Bay Road, threw some loose signs and lumber around, and also shook the municipal garage and the ceiling tiles at the local arena.

"As I was driving up Inglis Street, I could see the clouds rotating", Quade told Pure Country 96.7.

"The clouds turned for about a minute and joined tighter ... then all of a sudden, a black cloud dropped, and the wind went wild for about a minute, and headed off to the east toward Wilno", Quade said.
