Waste & Recycling Collection Returns To Whitewater Next Week

People in Whitewater Township will have recycling and waste collection back next week.

The township was one of several areas to lose collection services after the sudden closure of Beaumen Waste Management in Renfrew last month.

Whitewater officials say starting next week, Miller Waste Services will be handling collection in the township.

Miller already handles collection in neighbouring Laurentian Valley, Pembroke, and Petawawa.

The township says collection times will be the same except in the former Ross Township area, where recycling will be picked up Fridays now instead of Tuesdays.

Other communities left high and dry by the closure of Beaumen continue to work on solutions.

That includes Laurentian Hills, which is asking people not to place curbside recycling material out this week.

"The Town of Laurentian Hills continues to work on a solution for our curbside recycling pick up program.  While we work towards a resolution, residents are being asked not to place recycling material at the curbside this week. We will update residents with more information as soon as possible.  We thank you for your patience and understanding", states a notice on the Laurentian Hills website.
