Gogama Wildfire Continues to Grow; Nearby Communities are on Alert
According to Ontario.ca, there were two new fires in the Northeast Region by the end of Sunday, June 9th.
~Sudbury 6 is located on the South shore of the French River, approximately 8 kilometers southeast of Ouellette. The 0.2 hecatre fire is not under control.
~Parry Sound 3 is located about 11 kilometers northeast of Britt. That fire is OUT at 0.1 hectares.
There are 8 active firest in the Northeast Region: Three blazes were not under control, and five were under control

"Approximately four kilometres west of Gogama, Timmins 2 is receiving a coordinated suppression response with waterbombers, 11 ground crews, helicopters and heavy equipment. The fire is 800 hectares in size and is not under control. Travellers in the area are encouraged to check frequently for updates on road closures at 511.on.ca. As a precaution, the OMNRF has recommended to the Gogama Local Services Board that a two-hour evacuation alert notice be in place for residents in Gogama and surrounding area."
