May Wells: March's Future Star
March’s Bell Media Future Star May Wells used to front a band called The Garlics that opened for Simple Plan in front of 20,000 screaming fans. You can’t buy that kind of experience, and the confidence gained though that rush has this Montrealer’s first solo offering up to a standard that arenas full of fans can appreciate. We All Want Love is a Kelly Clarkson, OneRepublic-esque power-pop song about the oldest theme in music – needing love. The Beatles might have been onto something.
Wells writes, “I wrote this song to talk about relationships in 2017. With technology keeping us apart, and the search for the perfect life, we may be looking in all the wrong places. One thing is for sure, whatever one’s technology, politics, colour or origin, we all want one thing: to love and to be loved.”
