  • Pow Wow

    Each year Pikwakanagan welcomes hundreds of dancers, numerous drum groups and thousands of spectators to celebrate Algonquin culture at our traditional pow wow. There is also opportunity to view and purchase unique items at our many vendors selling: jewelry, crafts, art, clothing, beadwork, leather purses, regalia, drums, CD’s, dreamcatchers, moccasins and many other items. Another attraction is the variety of food vendors offering Indian Tacos, native foods and other treats. Saturday Grand Entry, 12 noon Supper Break, 5 pm to 7 pm Social Evening Dancing and Drumming, 7 pm Sunday Grand Entry, 12 noon Give away and closing, 5 pm Please remember that this is a ceremony. The songs that are sung and the dances that are danced are prayers to the Creator.

  • Robbie Dean Centre Fundraiser

    Chartwell Pembroke Heritage Retirement Residence is hosting a fundraising event to support the Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre. The event will feature a family picnic, activities for kids, craft and bake sale, live entertainment followed by a butterfly release. You can support this event by purchasing a butterfly to release – maybe in memory of a loved one or simply to support the Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre. Butterflies will be released in the courtyard at Chartwell Pembroke Heritage at 3 p.m. on the day of the event. Cost: $25 - Deadline to purchase: June 17th. You can also bring a picnic blanket and take part in an old fashioned Picnic lunch. Cost: $10 per person for picnic lunch (pre-order required) - Deadline to order lunch: August 13th Butterflies and lunches can be ordered by contacting Chartwell Pembroke Heritage Retirement Residence or the Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre, Monday to Friday.

    The Tour de Bonnechere is a timed, self-supported ride that celebrates cycling in the Ottawa Valley. The tour is not a race, but a chance to enjoy a ride with like-minded people at your own pace. Join the potuluck bbq and enjoy live music and other post ride activities. Proceeds go to local mental health support and public awareness initiatives. 18KM - Family Ride to the Caves, 30KM - Take it easy peasy 60KM - You get the hill, 100KM - Bragging rights.
