10 Drivers Charged After Not Yielding to Pedestrians

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP have already charged 10 drivers for not yielding to pedestrians during patrols.

Directed Patrols were done from March 23rd until April 8th to ensure drivers and cyclists were yielding to pedestrians at crossovers and crosswalks. Drivers are reminded that in 2016 the Province adopted a law to ensure pedestrians crossing roads are safe and that drivers must yield to pedestrians while they cross the entire roadway.

Although the Directed Patrol has concluded officers will continue to monitor crossovers and crosswalks throughout the detachment area to ensure the safety of pedestrians and all road users.
