Attempted Murder and Kidnapping Charges Laid Following Investigation By Renfrew OPP

A woman is in critical condition and a man is facing attempted murder and kidnapping charges following an incident in McNab Braeside Thursday afternoon.

The Renfrew County Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police with the assistance of Forensic Identification Services are continuing to investigate a serious assault that happened Thursday afternoon. At approximately 2:30 P.M.., Renfrew County Paramedics and members of the Renfrew Detachment responded to an injured person in the bush near Gunsmith Road. A woman was located with critical injuries. She was transported to hospital by paramedics where she remains in stable condition. A man at scene was taken into custody. He was also treated in hospital for a medical condition and minor injuries.

72 year old William (Bill) Kirby, of Mississippi Mills Township has been charged with; Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping and Criminal Harassment. He remains in custody as he awaits a bail hearing in Pembroke next week.
