Budget Passed at Pembroke Council Meeting.
Pembroke City Council has officially passed the 2018 budget.
Mayor Michael Lemay says they were able to keep a tax increase to a minimum.
Taxes will be up 1.63 Percent and the increase will allow the City to continue to provide current services as well as work on infrastructure. That includes completing the Pembroke Fire Hall as well as work on our roads.
Industrial taxes have been lowered by 20 Percent. The City is hoping the lower tax rate paired with their certified lots in the industrial park will help encourage more industry to invest here. The certified lots mean the Ontario government will advertise for Pembroke oversee's and tout that there is "shovel ready" property available. The property is already equipped with sewer, electric and gas.
