Cause Of Multi-Million Dollar Fire Near Mount St. Patrick Undetermined
The cause of a fire that leveled a multi-million dollar seasonal home south of Renfrew last week will be listed as undetermined.
The blaze broke out Thursday morning at a home on Maloney Mountain Road, near Mount St. Patrick.
Greater Madawaska Fire Chief Darryl Wagner tells Star 96.7 the call came in around 10:30 a.m.
There were challeges getting equipment to the scene, which is at the top of a hill on a road that’s only maintained seasonally.
The home was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.
14 firefighters from both stations in Greater Madawaska worked to knock down the flames.
There were were no injuries but damage is listed at 5 to 7 million dollars.
Wagner says the owners are seasonal residents who live in the United States.
Because of the extent of the damage, he says it was not possible to pinpoint a source for the fire.
