Coast Guard Joins Effort To Help Renfrew County Flood Victims

Evacuations in badly flooded areas of Renfrew County are being stepped up.

The Coast Guard worked with Renfrew County paramedics to help a number of people leave their flooded homes along the Ottawa River late Wednesday, and early Thursday morning.

They focused on the Westmeath and Lapasse areas, which have been hit particularly badly.

Lacroix Bay Road  near Lapasse is one of the worst areas for flooding, with the river overtaking several properties and cutting off access roads.

At this point dozens of people have volunarily left their homes in Whitewater Region and in Laurentian Valley’s Cotnam Island area.
