Cobden named top 10 Kraft Hockeyville finalist

On Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday, the top 10 Kraft Hockeyville finalists were unveiled, and Cobden, Ontario was named as one of the communities in consideration! The Cobden Astrolabe Arena is home to sporting events and recreational social gatherings not only for Cobden but neighbouring towns within the Renfrew County. The Cobden Astrolabe Arena seeks to improve their space to be more accessible and inclusive to the entire community and provide comfortable viewing areas for everyone to enjoy the one thing that brings them together: the love for hockey.

No country in the world has the pride and the passion for hockey quite like Canada, so it’s no surprise that Canadians rallied together, showing their tremendous support for Kraft Hockeyville in their communities with a total of 2,946 nominations, representing 41% of arenas across Canada. Kraft Hockeyville unites the spirit and passion of Canadian hockey communities, where the heart of Canada’s game truly lives. Here are the communities nominated to the top 10 voting round:


  • Courtenay, British Columbia
  • Maskwacis (Ermineskin), Alberta
  • Didsbury, Alberta
  • Ituna, Saskatchewan
  • Wilkie, Saskatchewan


  • Cobden, Ontario
  • Collingwood, Ontario
  • Saint-Ambroise, Quebec
  • O’Leary, Prince Edward Island
  • Bay Roberts, Newfoundland & Labrador


Kraft Heinz, in partnership with the National Hockey League® (NHL) and the National Hockey League Players’ Association® (NHLPA), are celebrating the eleventh season of Kraft Hockeyville. Prizing includes:

  • One grand prize of hosting an NHL® Pre-Season Game, $100,000 for arena upgrades and the title of Kraft Hockeyville
  • The second place community receives $100,000 in arena upgrades
  • The remaining eight prize winners receive $25,000

    Beginning at 9:00 a.m. EST on March 12th, Canadians can vote for their favourite of the top 10 communities at The top 10 voting phase will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on March 13th. The two communities that receive the most votes in each region will move on to the top 2 final round of voting, beginning at 9:00 a.m. ET on March 19th via The final voting phase will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on March 20th.

The grand prize winner will be announced during Hockey Night in Canada on April 1st, and will be awarded the chance to host an NHL® Pre-Season Game, $100,000 towards their local arena upgrades, a national broadcast on Sportsnet, and the coveted title of Kraft Hockeyville.
