It’s official now:  Pembroke-area native and OHL sniper Tye Felhaber will be a member of the Dallas Stars.

A news release issued by the NHL club on Friday afternoon says Felhaber has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Stars.

The release notes that the 20-year old Felhaber has skated in 60 games this season for the Ottawa 67s of the OHL, registering a team-leading 99 points.

Felhaber’s family tells Star 96.7 they are thrilled with today’s news.

“We are so proud of Tye and his accomplishments”, Tye’s father, Joey Felhaber, told Star 96.7’s Tony Grace on Friday afternoon.

“We look forward to continuing to support him in the next part of his journey”, Felhaber added, saying that Tye has always remembered his roots all along the way.

“He is Valley proud”, notes Felhaber.

The Stars also noted that in three seasons with Ottawa, Felhaber has amassed 192 points in 163 contests, and has skated in 303 games over five OHL seasons with Ottawa and Saginaw, posting 275 points.
