Flooding Closes Road Near Pakenham

A section of County Road 29, just south of Pakenham, has been closed because of high water.

The OPP and the County of Lanark both posted notices about the road closure.

Picutres posted to the Facebook group "Pakenham Parents" show traffic stopped near McWatty Road, and some pictures show vehicles half-deep in water near a railroad bridge in the area.

A post on the Lanark County official Facebook page says more information will be released as it's available.

Some areas around Pakenham, including Dalhousie Lake, have been under a flood watch by the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority.

"Flows on the Clyde, Fall, Indian and Carp Rivers have increased steadily over the weekend and are expected to increase significantly over the next four days. Levels on Mississippi Lake are expected to increase 30 to 40 cm by mid-week bringing levels close to those experienced last year", reads part of the notice posted on the MVCA website on Sunday.
