Howard Re-Elected Catholic School Board Chair

A familiar face will chair Renfrew County's Catholic School Board for the next term.

At its inaugural board meeting last night, David Howard was re-elected Chair of the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board, while Andy Bray was re-elected Vice-Chair.

The board looks after more than 20 catholic schools across Renfrew County.

In a statement to Star 96.7 on Tuesday morning, Howard said he's grateful for the opportunity to serve another term.

Here's his statement:

"I thank the Board of Trustees for their confidence in me.  Over the next year we will continue to implement the Board’s renewed 5 year Strategic Plan and it’s four pillars: Dignity and Belonging, Wholeness and Wellness, Achievement and Potential, and Integrity and Witness. This year our theme taken from our vision statement calls us to “reverence the dignity of the whole person.  In our focus on student achievement and potential, we will continue to provide programs that work to ensure our students are academically challenged and engaged learners.  Our latest EQAO results are a testament to the great work that is happening at RCCDSB and speaks volumes of the ongoing commitment of everyone involved to ensure it’s continuance. We will continue to work hard at effectiveness and efficiency in the use of resources as we journey as a faith-filled Catholic community. Ultimately, a learning community needs to be safe and welcoming and needs to honour the gifts of each individual. Through the work of our safe schools and mental health supports, we will continue to refine our notion of what a 21st century RCCDSB classroom can offer to each individual learner. I am looking forward to another busy year".
