Impaired driving charge laid after single vehicle collision in Pembroke

Just before 8am on the morning of February 04, 2017 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the 800 block of Pembroke Street West. 

A vehicle had left the roadway and struck the guidewire of a utility pole. 

The male driver was found to be under the influence of drugs and as a result the 18 year old male of Pembroke was charged with Impaired Driving - by drug - contrary to the Criminal Code. 

He was also charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Methamphetamine - contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). An OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer assisted with the investigation. 

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 07, 2017
