IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE LAID BY OPP
On the afternoon of March 23, 2017 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the east end of the City of Pembroke. Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Nelson Street in Pembroke. The female driver was found to be under the influence of drugs and as a result 53-year old Melody WENTZELL of Pembroke was charged with Impaired Driving - by drug - contrary to the Criminal Code. In addition to the criminal charge her license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. An OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer assisted with the investigation.
She was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 18, 2017
