Madawaska Valley Man Found Guilty of 7 Counts of Animal Cruelty

A Madawaska Valley man has been found guilty of seven counts of animal cruelty following an investigation into the neglect of animals in his care.

70 year old, Frank Froner, was found guilty of permitting distress, not providing medical attention, sanitary conditions, care necessary for general welfare and failing to comply with an OSPCA order.

Froner has been sentenced to a lifetime prohibition on owning animals, with the exception of a dog, three chickens and three rabbits currently in his care. He was also fined $700. He is also required to work with local rescue groups to manage the feral cat population on his property.

A total of 30 cats, eight fowl (chickens and ducks) and three dogs were removed from the property when Froner failed to comply with Ontario SPCA orders to address unsanitary conditions and seek veterinary attention for the animals in his care.
