MPP John Yakabuski Reintroduces Private Members Bill
Renfrew Nippissing Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski has reintroduced his Private Member's Bill to help keep victims of violent crimes safer.
The legislation calls for inmates to sign their certificate of parole before being released back into our communities as well as electronic monitoring for offenders who are convicted of sexual or domestic assault.
Currently the Ministry of Correctional Services Act allows for inmates to be granted parole even when they refuse to sign their certificate of parole.
Yakabuski adds he often hears from residents who want greater accountability placed on parolees and that keeping victims of violence and sexual assault safe is an issue above politics.
