Pembroke Area's New Year's Baby: An Early Arrival!

A Petawawa couple is celebrating the arrival of the Pembroke Regional Hospital's New Year's Baby.

Mark Wallace McMahon weighed in at 7 pounds 12 ounces when he was delivered at 4:04 a.m. on New Year's Day, and the proud parents are Victoria and Stuart McMahon of Petawawa.

Little Mark is the couple's second child.

Victoria says Mark arrived 11 days early, and she wasn't expecting his arrival so soon after the clock struck midnight to ring in 2019.

"We were just chilling on the couch, watching TV, and playing some games .. I said my goodnights and our 'Happy New Year's' to everyone by text", she told Star 96.7 in her hospital room on Wednesday afternoon.

"I went up to bed expecting to just be tired, and then my regular restlessness turned into a different kind of pain", she said.

"We got here and he was born before we even made it up to the maternity ward ... and he was 11 days early, so we were saying, he wanted to see all of 2019", she laughed.

Mom and baby Mark are both doing well and were expecting to head home on Wednesday evening.
