Pembroke Street East Construction Underway
A major roadwork project in Pembroke's east end is underway.
Crews began removing the aging layer of pavement on Pembroke Street East on Monday morning, between Howard Street and Cecelia Street, for the latest "shave and pave" project.
That entire stretch of the busy street will be closed to through traffic until the work is finished - likely around October 19th.
In the meantime, the city is also changing the status of Fraser Lane - which links Pembroke Street East with Nelson Street - from a one-way street to a two-way street for the duration of the road work.
The city says this will allow easier access to businesses, homes and apartments in that area.
This is the latest "shave and pave" project to give some of the city's bumpiest streets a smooth new surface before winter.
Last week, crews completed a large chunk of Nelson Street.
Christie Street, Mackay Street, Everett Street and Eganville Road are also on the agenda before winter sets in.

What is funnier? The body language of this man when he realizes what will be demonstrated or the music that has been added to the video?
