Serious Injuries In Two Separate Snowmobile Collisions

Two separate snowmobile collisions on the same day last week left people with serious injuries.

It was early Thursday afternoon when Bancroft OPP say a snowmobile and a groomer collided along the E-109 trail, in Hastings Highlands Township near Bancroft.

Police and the Nipissing District Paramedic Service both responded to the scene.

The snowmobile operator, a 52 year old man from Little Britain, Ontario, which is west of Peterborough, was taken to a local hospital then airlifted to another hospital for further care.

And then on Thursday evening, another collision happened in the Madawaska Valley area.

Killaloe OPP say a 29 year old man, who was a passenger on a snowmobile, was thrown from the machine when it hit a pressure crack on the ice, along the Opeongo River near Spectacle Lake Road and Highway 60.

The collision left the man with serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance.
